CO2 Hydrates for Carbon Capture and Sequestration

Our group is working on novel methods to accelerate formation of CO2 hydrates (ice-like materials containing water and CO2), seal them to avoid dissociation, and store them in appropriate deep-water locations on the seabed. This is an alternative to the commercial practice of geological injection and aims to enable giga-scale CO2 sequestration on the seabed.
